Tom’s Fine Furniture and Collectables, in conjunction with the historic Arizona Inn, is selling Arizona Hut dining chairs from the Inn in order to raise money for the Tucson Veteran’s Hospital. There is a limited number of these last remaining original dining chairs, which were hand crafted by disabled World War I veterans specifically for the Arizona Inn, circa 1930. As the Arizona Hut Furniture Company and the Arizona Inn were both started by Isabella Greenway to provide jobs to disabled war veterans, it is a fitting tribute to her legacy that every pre-tax dollar spent on these chairs will be donated to our local Veteran’s Hospital — sales of these historic chairs will net over $11,000 for the hospital.
Although they have all been painted brown since this photo was taken in the early 1930’s, these are the very same chairs seen in the photo and not reproductions. These are ladderback chairs, hand crafted of solid wood, with rush seating. Each chair comes with a special keepsake tag that describes the history of these chairs and includes a copy of this photograph. Arizona Hut chairs are available at both Tom’s Furniture locations and will be available until stock runs out.
Here is your chance to own a piece of Tucson history while doing something to help our local veterans. They can make a nice addition to your home furnishings and they also make a great gift for those who love Tucson and its history. There is a limited number of these chairs available (less than 100). Don’t wait to get yours! We anticipate selling out of them soon.
